Thrusday's Up! - Liquid

Hello Thrusday. It's an easy challenge this week 365cards. YOu have an option to use something that started out as a liquid" whether its a spray, re-inker, water, anything that was once in liquid form, except a regular ink pad doesn't count. I used two mists from Dylusions Bubblegum and Postcard Red with a FolkArt rose stencil. And to top it up, a strip from Stella Rose and rubon from October Afternoon. What's your take? Hop on and have fun at 365cards

Random Layout - Skissedilla #194

This week I'm playing at Skissedilla again. This is for sketch #194. This close up of #1 was taken back on 14 March 2010. If I remembered correctly it's one of those lunch @ home photos that I always took of the boys on weekends. I played quite a bit with texture paste and misting. So this is my style, here's another textured/inky layout!

Let's Scrap 1-23-13

Here's the layout Let's Scrap for 1-23-13. I used all the photos from mom's birthday last year on 10Feb2012. I used Basic Grey papers and decided to chosed 2 different designs, which I think still complement each other in terms of colors. As usual I dabbled with some inks and made this a simple layout. Do join us at Let's Scrap and remember to tag your creation as 1-23-13

Random Layout - CSI Case #55

This is my 2nd time on CSI challenge. I found it quite addictive to play after I tried the 1st time. For this challenge #55, apart from the requirements this week, the challenge this week is to lift a design element from case#1. I had lifted some elements from Anna Karin's layout that includes numbers, distressing and repeat stamp background. I  lifted her day to day documenting her child's sleeping pattern, as to map it to me... I took photos of dinner time with #1, almost daily. This photo of him on a typical dinner at home, as seated on his high chair with that cutest smile!

I started off with what I had leftover for Skissedilla layout , that night I printed the reverse side of the mask for this layout, if you could spot the chevron. And I piled lot of layers of inks, stamps and some texture paste with circle stencil/ice cream stick. The background is a little blurry on the left as I had spread some gesso and the stamping at later stage turns out a little muddy. Just as I wanted to make the background a little blurry/dreamy. My layout has these EVIDENCEflowers, leaves, tree, diamond shapes, circles, scallops, plain white background. As for the testimony I included 2 things i.e. small decorative design, and Inspiration Words: repeat, favorite, stir, today

Noteables : Bazzil Textured white 12x12, My Mind's Eye Stella Rose, Echo Park tickets, The CraftersWorkshop Balzer designs Chervon/Prima/Donna Dawney masks, Tattered Angels Chalkboard Seven Seas/Teal heel, stamps from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz/Impression Obsession/Kaisercraft, Distress inks Tumbled Glass/Crushed Olive/Tea Dye/Pumice Stone, Jenni Bowlin Fountain Pen ink, Maya Road chipboard, October Afternoon rubons, Gesso, Texture paste, ice cream stick

Random layout - Skissedilla #193

This photo is #1 when he was about 7mths old, taken during his 1st trip back to Penang. This is how this layout is created, Lots of layers of mists and inks. I do, really enjoyed the process of doing it, and playing around with the colors.
1. Misted TA on the Chervon stencil, flipped over to cardstock#2 (safe keep for another project) to print the negative of the remaning ink.
2. Misted HS Bronzer on the mini word collage, flipped over the corners of this cardstock for negative print.
3. Put some strips of washi tape vertically, lay the hearts stencil over and blend in some Victorian Velvet. The effect are some vertical strips layer showing the ink works from step1 and2. With the stencil on, stamped some tiny alphas onto the hearts
4. Mixed some distress inks onto the craft sheet to stamp the floral silhouette and the humming bird (double stamped the 2nd time with Walnut stain
5. Create photo mat with the mix media stamp from Stamper Anonymous
6. Stamped the sentiment with Versafine and stuck the stickers for title.

Noteables : The CraftersWorkshop Balzer designs Chervon/Mini word collage/Dina's Spilled hearts, Tattered Angels Chalkboard Seven Seas/Teal heel, Heidi Swapp Bronzer, Distress Inks Walnut Stain/Festive Berries/Barn Door/Spiced Marmalade/Tumbled Glass/Forest Moss/Victorian Velvet, Versafine Onyx Black, all stamps from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz, October Afternoon Rocket Age decal alpha stickers

Let's Scrap Monochromatic

This is for challenge#153 at Let's Scrap by Kristine :
- Keep your project monochromatic, whether you use cardstock or patterned paper or both.
- Add ONE punch of additional colour (some bright yellow in the background of the photo and on the paper)

So this was the process in one night, no heat gun required :
1. Doilies from the baking supplies shop, inked, tore a little in the process.. so I left it as is. Then glued, Then I stamped the clock
2. Corner top with ADMIT ONE, was also torn, a couple of inks, glued, and stamped

3. 6x6 sheet (with the all teeth thickers), tore edges and ink ink ink, Then glued as 3rd layer
4. Photo mat, cut to size, inked and glued. Glued the photo
5. 2nd last bit the invoice is actually left over from some other projects. Tore the edges, crumpled the paper, inked, stamped and stick it on the layout.
6. Then the thickers for title.

This photo is from 2years ago, 26Dec2010.  Kid was in brown, so I chosed brown to work on. I had quite a hard time keeping mono color.. but I'm happy with the outcome of this layout.
I LOVE THE MUD WORK :)

Let's Scrap 1-16-13

This week on Let's Scrap is a card sketch. You may make a layout or a card with this sketch. Do join us at Let's Scrap and remember to tag your creation as 1-16-13. This card is for my one and only sibling, my older brother who's turning 37 this year. He sends me birthday card yearly so now that I'm making cards of my own, I'll make sure he gets at least one card from me once a year! :) Doesn't look like a birthday card eh? But anyway, this should be masculine enough for my brother. :)

If you are interested, read on a mini tutorial for the card texture. For some crazy reasons I keep odd sizes, tiny and narrow strips of scrap papers from past projects, waiting to be used. Anyway, now I found a good reason to use them, on my cards! One good reason is to create layers and texture, whichever deem fit.
1. I took some green strips of the papers and placed them randomly on the card just to gauge how the strips would look like. No real planning involved.
2. Then gesso-ed the white cardstock below and started pasting the strips of scraps and between the papers as they layer onto each other.
3. Gesso-ed the top layer and run the gesso with a plastic knife to make the diagonal lines
4. After the gesso is dried, I cut away the excess paper to make up to the card size.
It's all ready for you to ink/mist and add whatever layers that you need to!

Try it, it's pretty satisfying to me when I realised I used up quite a fair bit of odd scraps that I'm still wondering why I kept them in the 1st place & for months!

Let's Scrap Design Team Challenge #152

This photo of #2 was taken during Wendy and Alex's wedding at Samford, Brisbane on 26March2011. He was having a whale of time prancing up and down the ranch before and after the outdoor wedding. Well it didn't quite look like a wedding layout as my main focus is kid #2.  With this, I decided to take on Charlotte's DT Challenge #152 at Let's Scrap. I used a Let's Scrap card sketch, flipped it clockwise and made this one photo page. The deal was to :
*    Use the event as a title
*    Rounded Corners
*    Circles or Ovals

Confession time : This is the 1st time I was using the trims from Webster's Page. I had wanted to add some trims and blings but I am kind of nervous after sticking these two strips onto my layout. So I stopped there. I guess I'm not the WP kind of person as I don't quite like the outcome :( Also it's my 1st time using Woodland Park collection (which I got from the OA Santa Sack sales last year) and used bits and pieces of the stuff on this layout.

Noteables : Bazzill White textured cardstock, Distress Stain Metallic Pewter, Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade/Evergreen Bough/Barn Door/Tumbled Glass, The Crafters Workshop Mini Life strips, Mister Huey's Bubble mask, Webster's Page trims, Bits and pieces from October Afternoon Woodland Park collection, Crop A Dile corner rounder
